Getting Your Flushing House Ready for the Holidays with Electrical Upgrades

Electrical Upgrades for the Holidays

When most people think about preparing their homes for the upcoming holiday season, they think about things like getting out the Christmas decorations, moving furniture around to accommodate a Christmas tree, or extending the dining room table for anticipated dinner guests. Not many people think about calling out a Flushing electrician to make electrical upgrades to their homes. But perhaps they should. Making certain electrical upgrades can make your home a more inviting place for the holidays and can also make it more convenient and safe for you and your family. Here are a few upgrades you should consider:

Add Overhead Lighting

If you’ve been trying to keep your house lit using table and floor lamps, perhaps it’s time to consider adding overhead lighting to your home. This could mean adding can lights in the living room, a new chandelier over your dining room table, or some pendant lights over your kitchen island or peninsula. You can even put all of your new lights on a dimmer switch so you can create just the right mood for your upcoming holiday parties.

Add Outlets Where You Need Them

Do you find yourself using multiple extension cords for your holiday decorating? Consider adding an outlet where you place your Christmas tree every year. Or maybe you like lights to adorn your fireplace. You can add an outlet either on top of your mantle or somewhere nearby. This will give your decorating a cleaner, less cluttered look, and will also keep you and your guests from tripping over extension cords.

Don’t Forget About Outdoor Lighting

Are you someone who likes to hang lights on the outside of your house? Consider adding outlets under your eaves to keep you from having to use extension cords. While you’re at it, you can also add a switch just inside one of your doors so you can turn the lights on and off without having to go outside. We can even place an outlet at the edge of your yard if you’re the fun house on the block that puts out the giant inflatable Christmas decorations!

Wiring for that New Television Set

Do you plan on getting the family a new flat-screen television for Christmas? In the past, our televisions were placed in an entertainment unit of some sort and the television cords were hidden behind it. Nowadays, many people opt to hang their televisions on the wall. To avoid having an unsightly cord hanging down from your television, you can do one of two things. You can have an outlet placed higher up on your wall, behind where your tv will hang, or you can have one of our Flushing electricians come out and run your television wiring behind the wall. Either way, you’ll have a cleaner look to the focal point of your living room!

Call a Flushing Electrician for Help

As we’ve mentioned many times in this blog, electrical work is not typically a DIY project that most homeowners can tackle themselves. If you need any type of electrical work done, contact Electrician Express for help. One of our electricians will come out to your Genesee County home or business and give you free estimate.

When I talked to the person on the phone about my problem, I had a feeling I had made a good choice. She was polite, friendly and acted fast to have someone come out that day. It was a serious problem and she deserves a lot of thanks. John, the electrician, did an outstanding job and as they say, we are sleeping a lot better at night. This is a top notch company because of it’s people and will always be the one I use if I have a problem in the future. - F. Francois, Fenton, MI
